7 for 2017 (with bonus printable)

If last year I did a throwback to the year that was and what I’ve learnt from coming out of 2015 fairly unscathed, this year I am going to do something quite different. 2016, despite my positive mindset on it’s early days, has eventually turned out to be quite a slump of a year, something that I would prefer not to look back and relieve. So this is why I am here to look forward and not back, gleaming with newfound hopes for 2017.

That is why this time I am sharing with you my top 7 goals for next year, because now that I’ve put them up in the aether of the world wide web, I am somehow more inclined to do something about it. The more people that keeps me in check, the more reminders I will get, and the more likely I’ll do them, right?

So here they are, in no particular order:

  1. Get fitter, sleep earlier and take care of myself better
To be completely honest, this might be one of the hardest goal. 2015 was a fit year for me, and I actually miss the boost of confidence it gave me. So I’m going to try to give it a go again next year. 2016 was also a year where I injured myself and fell sick a few times, so I planned to take care of myself better. Though being a klutz is so deeply rooted and ingrained in my whole being so it will be a challenge. Stay tuned.

  2. Actually get my driving license
Embarrassingly, this has been on my resolution for the past few years, and it wasn’t until my Learners license winds down near to expiry that I decided to do something about it. Wish me luck, I’ll need it.

  3. Challenge myself more
Comfort zone is a double edged sword, and every single day I try to wrestle myself out of it. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, and more times than not I keep reprimanding myself to do more. This is a constant uphill battle, but as long as I am not rolling downhill, it’s good enough for me. Hopefully 2017 will bring more adventures, maybe some travels, I am hopeful.

  4. Take more photos and do more creative things
A few years back I would lug my DSLR everywhere and take pictures of anything that I can, somehow during this last few years that habit is lost. These days even though I’ve gotten a lighter mirrorless camera, I’ve constantly noticed I went out of the house without it and wished I have it with me. So next year I am going to try to take my camera to more places. My lettering stuff was also embarassingly minimal for the second half of 2016, so I am trying to pick it back up next year, maybe put more things in the shop, it’s in the works.

  5. Tidy as I go and declutter often
I have this biggest sin of not immediately tidying up my mess, which snowballs to an even bigger mess that looks too big too tackle for just one day. I’m going to try this thing where I tidy as I go and actually set aside little windows of time everyday. I am also a huge hoarder that has problems of letting go of my possessions, something I am still trying to fix even after reading a few runs of KonMari the decluttering bible. This hoarding tendencies of mine turns out to be quite acute afterall.

  6. Drink more water
I have been such a horrible water drinker this year, I don’t even know why. I just… forget to drink because I am not the type to get thirsty. This one I still don’t know how to fix, so if you have any ideas, feel free to share them with me.

  7. Blog more
Yes, I realise how sporadic my blog posts are this year. The problem is is I am those kinds of people that can’t focus on one thing and my attention are constantly divided into a million and one things. Like all the things in this list, this is also a work in progress. So hopefully, it’s going to be more constant in the coming year.
